Myth 02 of 6 · busted
“It passed when it was laid, so we’re covered.”
The reality: Grip changes over time.
Why it’s tempting to believe
If the floor was specified as slip-resistant, or tested at handover, it feels like a box that stays permanently ticked.
What’s actually true
It doesn’t. Wear in the traffic lanes, polish and residue building up from cleaning, and a change of detergent all move the numbers — usually downwards. A pass three years ago tells you little about today.
What to do
Grip changes over time.
Re-test periodically, especially in busy and wet areas. It also quietly confirms your cleaning regime is still doing its job.
